A brief comment on advertising

You may have noticed a leaderboard across the very top of this page advertising various biotech companies. Over the next month we’ll be experimenting with the potential for hosting ads through Sproutnova, a new, science focused advertising company. Please use the comment field on this post as an open thread to discuss the new ads and let us know how y’all, our readers, feel about them.

  • Hi SFS, cool with me. I think the ad placement (at the top) doesnt clutter up your page and I actually urge you to try to raise funds for this wonderful blog. As you know, just maintaining the site isnt free and your time is valuable and will be increasingly so and more and more scarce as your careers progress. I would really like to see more scientists – and especially young ones – blogging and a financial incentive, however small, cant hurt.
