Reader Survey: Who reads Southern Fried Science?

Introduction

Who are our readers? That is the question we wanted to answer at the beginning of this year. Are you scientists, students, or interested laypeople? Where are you from? What do you like and what don’t you like? Is anybody out there?

So last month we launched a survey to help us find out.

Reader Survey Closed

A big thanks to everyone who filled out the readers’ survey. We’ll pick and inform the winners tonight and have a full write-up of the survey results later this week.

One more week to take the Reader Survey!

Thank you to everyone who has responded to our survey. There’s still a chance to win some free books or great big piles of swag! To sweeten the deal, we’re going to add one more prize to the list. One lucky winner, randomly drawn from or pile of surveys, will win an autographed copy of the Open Lab 2009, featuring the Southern Fried Scientist’s article on Vampires and the Zombie Apocalypse.

So Go take the Readers’ Survey, it’ll only take five minutes of your time.

Win fantastic prizes in our reader survey!

Check out some of the fantastic swag you could win during the Southern Fried Science Readers’ Survey! All of this is stuffed into the rare and highly coveted Science Online 2010 tote bag. In addition, you could win an exclusive DVD of WhySharksMatter’s Four Things Everyone should know about Sharks documentary and every Shark Science Monday to date and a new science or ocean conservation themed book from the Southern Fried Scientist’s personal library.

How can you win all this amazing swag? All you have to do is fill out our Readers’ Survey. One reader will be randomly selected from a pool of surveys with the most insightful, helpful, and funniest comments. That reader could be you!

In addition, 2 readers will be randomly selected from all surveys to receive a new science or ocean conservation themed book from my personal library. We’re only collecting 250 surveys, which means your odds of winning big are orders of magnitude better than a weekend in Vegas.

Take the Southern Fried Science Readers Survey, win fantastic prizes!

The time has come for Southern Fried Science to get its report card. At the top of the page there is a link to the Reader Survey. We want to here from you, find out what you like, what you don’t like, and how you think this site could improve. Please take the survey, it shouldn’t require more than 5 minutes of your time. In addition to giving us valuable feedback and helping us improve the blog, you also get the chance to win fabulous prizes!

Two lucky readers, chosen by random number generator from the pool of survey takers, will receive a copy of a new (published in the last 4 months) science book, chosen by the winners from my pile of unread books – it could be about cloning, disease, conservation, or any of a number of possible topics.

One grand prize winner, chosen by random number generator from a pool of survey takers who have left insightful, helpful, or hilarious comments, will win a Southern Fried Science/Science Online Super Swag Bag, containing swag from three years of conferences and other events. Super Swag Bag will include, but is not limited to:

  • Several science themed t-shirts
  • At least 1 new science book
  • A Coral Reef Alliance 2011 Calendar
