Figure 2- Sections of the upper and lower jaws of a Sandbar Shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus). The upper jaws have broad serrated teeth suited for cutting, and the lower jaws have slender teeth suited for piercing prey. Together, these teeth function as a knife and fork dentition.
