The finalists for the 2011 blogging scholarship were announced last night, and I’m thrilled to announce that I made the list! The scholarship provides $10,000 towards education and research expenses to the winner. Voting opened last night, and continues until November 23rd. Please consider voting for me! You can see a list of all the finalists, with links to their blogs, here. To vote, visit this page, click the box next to your choice’s name, and click “vote” at the bottom of the page. For those of you who only know me as WhySharksMatter, my real name (which is what’s written on the voting form) is David Shiffman. I’d really appreciate the support! Thanks in advance!

David’s unrivaled powers of self-promotion aside, I’m pleased to see so many science blogs on the list this year. I count five (including Quantum Diaries, which has mysteriously vanished). Big improvement over last year.
