Tonight from 8-11 P.M. EST, Animal Planet is re-airing both fake mermaid documentaries, “Mermaids: The Body Found” and “Mermaids: the New Evidence”. We’re going to watch them. We’re going to live-tweet our thoughts using the show’s existing hashtag, #Mermaids. We’re going to systematically point out everything factually incorrect about mermaids (or anything having to do with the ocean) that they say, and generally mock the fake documentaries mercilessly. It’s going to be a good time, and you should participate. I’ll Storify my favorite contributions.

Mermaids don’t exist? You are not going to tell me fairies don’t exist either, are you?

Florida Go Fishing knows where the mermaids are in Florida, check them out at http://www.floridagofishing.com/florida-mermaid-of-the-month.html.

We will watch tonight too – sounds like fun!

Ha! This sounds awesome! I’m glad real scientists will be on hand to help with all the debunking. 🙂

You all should maybe do a thing like that Mystery Science Theater 3000, with silhouettes of famous scientists along the bottom citing the best critical observations. Probably a copyright violation, but I’d sure enjoy to buy a bluray of that
