The time has come for Southern Fried Science to get its report card. At the top of the page there is a link to the Reader Survey. We want to here from you, find out what you like, what you don’t like, and how you think this site could improve. Please take the survey, it shouldn’t require more than 5 minutes of your time. In addition to giving us valuable feedback and helping us improve the blog, you also get the chance to win fabulous prizes!

Two lucky readers, chosen by random number generator from the pool of survey takers, will receive a copy of a new (published in the last 4 months) science book, chosen by the winners from my pile of unread books – it could be about cloning, disease, conservation, or any of a number of possible topics.

One grand prize winner, chosen by random number generator from a pool of survey takers who have left insightful, helpful, or hilarious comments, will win a Southern Fried Science/Science Online Super Swag Bag, containing swag from three years of conferences and other events. Super Swag Bag will include, but is not limited to:

  • Several science themed t-shirts
  • At least 1 new science book
  • A Coral Reef Alliance 2011 Calendar
  • A Sigma Science magic 6-cube
  • Several assorted science buttons
  • Several key chains
  • A piece of fishing tackle dredged from the depths of the Gulf of Mexico (at least 2000 meters)
  • A fossil brachiopod
  • A DVD of Four Things Everyone Should know about Sharks and all of WhySharksMatter’s Shark Science Mondays to date
  • A Squeaky Blue Crab
  • And many, many more!

Usual contest rules apply: contestants must provide a valid e-mail address. If we don’t receive a reply a reply from you within 3 days we’ll hold a redrawing. People who “know” us are ineligible for the grand prize drawing (you know who you are, but if you’re on a first name basis with any of us, that probably includes you).

Um… if the squeaky blue crab fell out of the prize bag and made it’s way to Charleston, I’d be ok with it.
